Saying “Hell Ya” to your Life

It’s super easy to get swept away in the dreams of others. Friends, family, or colleagues, sometimes, we don’t even realize it’s happening. We just know our time feels stretched too thin, our goals seem distant, and a nagging voice in our head keeps asking, What the fresh hell am I doing with my life?

Your time is your most precious resource. You can’t make more of it, and once it’s spent, it’s gone forever. People who fail to respect your time—who abuse it thoughtlessly or who only value you when you’re serving their needs—are stealing from your most finite asset. It’s not selfish to guard your time; it’s self-preservation.

When you’re constantly fulfilling someone else’s dreams at the expense of your own, you’re losing the one thing that makes you you: your goals, your ambitions, your unique vision for life.

In the grand scheme of life, your dreams and goals are everything. Material things are nice, sure—they make life comfortable. But comfort doesn’t leave a legacy; it doesn’t bring fulfillment. When your time here is done, you won’t take anything tangible with you. “Naked you came into the world, and fleshless you will leave it.” All that remains are the memories you create, the love you share, and the dreams you dared to chase.

As young people, we often hear older generations talk about how fleeting time is. We smile and nod, but deep down, we think, I’ve got plenty of time. And that’s okay—it’s part of being young. You can’t fully understand until one day you look up and realize how fast it’s gone.

The truth is, you don’t have to completely understand. You just have to live. Live your life with as much passion and intention as you can. Don’t waste your time on people who don’t value it. Chase your dreams relentlessly, no matter how big or small they are.

When you’re old and reflecting on your years, you don’t want to feel like you were a passenger in your own life. You want to look back and say, Hell yeah, I did that.

Live in a way that honours the dreams in your heart. Don’t let others’ agendas overshadow your own. Be kind, but be firm in protecting your time and your vision. After all, this story is yours—don’t let anyone mess with your pages.
